Certified Copies of Birth, Death & Marriage Records

The County Clerk has birth and death records for events occurring in Yuba County and for marriage records if the license was issued in Yuba County.

AUTHORIZED VS INFORMATIONAL CERTIFIED COPY:

In an attempt to stop the illegal use of vital records, and as part of statewide efforts to reduce identity theft, California law only allows authorized individuals to receive certified copies that can be used to establish identity.  All others will be issued Certified Informational Copies that are not valid to establish identity and contain wording on the face of the document that states, "Informational, Not a Valid Document to Establish Identity."

HOW TO OBTAIN A CERTIFIED COPY OF A VITAL RECORD:

In Person:  Copies may be obtained in person at the County Clerk's office, 915 8th St. Ste. 107, Marysville CA 95901, during normal business hours.

By Mail:  Certified copy requests received by mail must include a signed sworn statement with the signature acknowledged by a notary public and a self-addressed stamped envelope.  

• Birth Certificate: Mail in Application 
• Death Certificate: Mail in Application
• Marriage Certificate: Mail in Application

Online:  For customer convenience, the County Clerk's office has partnered with VitalChek Network Inc., through which an online order may be processed.  (Note - additional fees are charged by VitalChek for using this service.)  VitalChek provides electronic identity validation for most orders. Please note that some orders may require a signed sworn statement with the signature acknowledged by a notary public.  Expedited mailing services may be purchased at an additional charge.

Please allow a processing time of 3- 5 business days for mail and online requests.  Processing time does not include mail delivery time.

FEES:

Fees for certified copies of vital records are set by the State of California.  All fees are non-refundable.  If the document requested is not located a Certificate of No Record will be issued and the fee will be retained.
