To meet the educational requirements for a classification, degrees and credits must be earned from an “accredited collegeor university” as defined by Yuba County, specifically, an institution listed on the United States Department of Education Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (http://ope.ed.gov/accrediation). Proof of education must be submitted with the application. Acceptable documents include a copy of diplomas or unofficial transcripts. Diplomas must include the degree awarded and the field of study. For degrees earned outside of the United States, applicants have two options:
- Have their foreign education evaluated by a United States based accredited college or university listed in the database above.
- Obtain a credential equivalency evaluation from a member agency of either the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) at www.naces.org or the Association of International Credential Evaluation (AICE) at www.aice-eval.org. Please attach a copy of a credential equivalency certificate to your employment application. Applicants who do not provide this verification/evaluation will be disqualified from further consideration.
A copy of the foreign credential evaluation must be attached to the application. Failure to provide this verification may result in disqualification from further consideration.
No. While you may include supplemental documents such as a resume, CV, certifications or licenses relevant to the position, portfolio, references, training documents or cover letter, these documents do not substitute for completing the County’s official application. Relevant experience and education MUST be included on the County’s official application.
Documents may be added to an application any time prior to the filing deadline. Once an application is submitted through NeoGov, an applicant will need to contact the Human Resources Department to have documents added to the application packet. No documents can be accepted or added after a filing deadline.
Yes. Individuals who have served in the United States’ Armed Forces, as defined in Government Code 18540, and who qualify as veterans who have been discharged or released under honorable conditions may be eligible for veterans’ preference points in accordance with County policy. To qualify, applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the position and submit a copy of their DD-214 with their application.
The recruitment process may include one or more of the following selection methods, depending on the position and thenumber of applicants:
- Supplemental Questionnaire is a set of job specific questions that allows applicants to demonstrate their qualifications,experience, and skills in more detail than the application alone.

- Performance Exam: A structured assessment used during the selection process to evaluate an applicant’s ability to performessential tasks associated with the job. These exams are desgined to simulate real job functions in order to objectivelymeasure skills, competencies, and task proficiency.
- Qualifications Appraisal Panel: A formal interview where an applicant answers questions posed by a panel of evaluators. Thepanal assesses each applicant’s qualifications, communications, and fit for the job based on pre-determined criteria.
- Written Exam: A standardized test given to applicants onsite to evaluate their knowledge and experise in specific areasrelevant to the job. It is usually designed to measure technical or cognitive skills.
- Speed Interview: A fast paced interview format, often lasting just a few minutes per applicant. Multiple applicants areinterviewed in quick succession, commonly used to filter large applicant pools.
- Appraisal Panel: A group of evaluators who observe and assess applicants as they perform a series of job simulationexercises, which may include individual and group tasks. These simulations are designed to mirror real-world responsibilitiesof the job.
